Two Police Gazette World Diamond Belt Title Matches to Headline BYB 18’s Inaugural Police Gazette International Cup Tournament
BYB’s Jarome Hatch will face BKB’s Marko Martinjak in a rematch from this past March, and BKB’s Barrie Jones will defend his title against BYB’s Tommy Turner.
Miami, FL – BYB Extreme Bare Knuckle Fighting Series CEO Gregory Bloom announced today co-main events for BYB 18’s first-of-its-kind cross-promotion competition with BKB to award the first ever Police Gazette International Cup. Undefeated champions Jarome Hatch (BYB, 3-0, 3 KOs) and Barrie Jones (BKB, 9-0, 8 KOs) will defend their Police Gazette World Diamond Belts against challengers Marko Martinjak (BKB, 6-2) and Tommy Turner (BYB, 1-0, 1 KO), respectively.
The Hatch-Martinjak fight is a rematch from the pair’s March 18 main event in Dubai. Jones, no stranger to BYB’s patented Trigon ring, impressed US audiences with a quick knockout at BYB 8 in December 2021. Boxing veteran Turner made equally quick and impressive work in his bare knuckle debut with a first round stoppage this past February in Miramar, FL. Immediately following the victory, Turner called out Jones in his post-fight interview looking to take on the best in the world, and at BYB 18, he’ll get that opportunity.
The 2023 inaugural installment will take place at BYB 18 on June 25 at London’s Indigo at the O2 in BYB’s patented Trigon ring and under BYB bare knuckle fighting rules. The competition will consist of nine match-ups featuring BYB fighters going against BKB fighters, with the promotion scoring the majority of victories to be awarded the Police Gazette International Cup. In addition to the nine tournament matches, BYB 18 will feature an additional three bare knuckle matches, showcasing BYB’s continued expanding roster of international talent.
Said Bloom, “Working with BKB and the BKHOF, we’ve come up with a marquee event that will pit the best against the best in bare knuckle, and crown an annual cup champion among the promotions. It’s Ryder Cup meets combat sports.”
